Clockstoppers' Starts Principal Photography

HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Jan. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Principal photography is underway on Paramount Pictures' "Clockstoppers." Starring Jesse Bradford, Paula Garces, French Stewart, Michael Biehn, Robin Thomas and Julia Sweeney, the film is directed by Jonathan Frakes, produced by Gale Anne Hurd and Julia Pistor and executive produced by Albie Hecht. The sci-fi adventure thriller is written by J. David Stem & David N. Weiss from a story by Rob Hedden & Andy Hedden.

"Clockstoppers" is a sci-fi adventure where a young man comes face to face with the greatest challenge of his life. Until now, Zak Gibbs' greatest challenge has been to find a way to buy a car. But when he discovers an odd wristwatch amidst his father's various inventions and slips it on -- something very strange happens. The world around him seems to come to a stop, everything and everybody frozen in time. Zak quickly learns how to manipulate the device and he and his quick-witted and beautiful new friend, Francesca, start to have some real fun.

But Zak and Francesca soon find out they are not alone in "hypertime." Someone else is there and he wants the watch. When Zak's father is kidnapped, Zak must risk everything to save him -- and the world.

Michael Biehn, the mastermind behind the plot to use the device for his own nefarious purpose, rejoins producer Gale Anne Hurd, for whom he starred in "The Terminator," "Aliens" and "The Abyss." Biehn has made over 50 films including "The Rock," Tombstone" "The Art of War," "K-2" and "The Seventh Sign." Biehn received critical praise for his work on the award-winning miniseries "Deadly Intentions" and starred in the television series "The Magnificent Seven."

Producer Gale Anne Hurd brings her extensive talent and experience to "Clockstoppers." Hurd's prolific achievements in the entertainment industry include producing such film classics as "The Terminator," directed by James Cameron and "Aliens," the successful sequel to Ridley Scott's 1979 sci-fi thriller. She has continued her success with event films, producing "The Abyss," "Terminator 2: Judgment Day," "Dante's Peak," "The Relic" and "Armageddon," which was 1998's number one box office success.

Hurd has also lent her talents to the other side of the film spectrum, producing such independent features as "The Waterdance," which received the Sundance Audience Award, "Safe Passage," starring Susan Sarandon and Sam Shepard, and the sweetly searing political comedy, "Dick."
